Model: Steph K

I’ve always been interested in photography, starting a degree in it prior to pursuing my makeup, and jump at any chance to get behind the camera again.  Technically… I’m not great. But creatively, I don’t think I’m too bad! I’ve self taught myself the basics with photoshop, and absolutely love tweaking pictures.

When Steph came to me asking for my help with some initial portfolio images I offered her my services as MUA, Photographer and Retoucher if she was willing to test me out.

Being a perfectionist, I’m constantly aware of flaws in my work, and looking for ways in which to improve.  Of course, being a MUA you rarely have the authority to photoshop the images but on this occasion however, I had permission to do whatever I wanted!

It took me a while to get into the swing of things on the photography front, and Steph was amazing – patient, enthusiastic, and at ease in front of the camera.

Many photo’s later we decided on the favored images for me to edit.  Here’s a few from our shoot:

Rich Suggestion

Here’s a few pics from a recent shoot.

Photography - Kimberley Langstone
Styling - Charlotte Alexander
Model – Anna G @ Oxygen Models
Hair and Makeup – Meeeee

Fortunately I had previously made some nails which happened to fit the theme perfectly!  Check it out…

Lucy V

I had the pleasure of working with the talented photographer Kimberley Langstone on Monday, shooting a 1950′s inspired glamour fashion shoot.  The gorgeous model Lucy Vixen fitted the theme perfectly and was such a dream to work with.  Her vibrant red hair made the perfect accompaniment to the 50s red lip (I used M.A.C. Russian Red), which I teamed with the classic eyeliner flick.

I started prepping Lucys skin with a Dermalogica CTM (cleanse tone moisterise), using a skin serum by Elizabeth Arden prior to moisterising.  Lucy had beautiful pale skin, so once absorbed, I applied a light coverage with a mixture of Nicola Roberts Danity Doll and MAC Studio Fix foundations.  I mixed MAC Strobe Liquid into this to add a bit of glow!

I kept the eyebrows neat, contouring and highlighting subtle, and focussed on the eyes and lips.  Worn with two classic 50s hairstyles of course!

Wedding Fair

Here’s a few pics from the Wedding Fair I attended on Sunday.  My beaut friend Cassie came along to be my demonstration model – showcasing the difference make up really does make with just a half a face done, as well as 2 different eye make-up looks later on.

Dior, Estee Lauder, MAC, Bobbie Brown, Elizabeth Arden and Clinique are just some of the brands I used on the day.

Nagi Noda

I’ve always loved surrealism, especially the work of Rene Magritte. I genuinely believe that its masters in art like himself that opened our eyes and inspired our modern minds into creative and imaginative art.

Nagi Noda, super talented Japenese pop artist was so unique and interesting, and its her animal hair hat creations that have given me my latest inspiration. Not only are they surreal and exciting, but they’re technically brilliant!

I love making hair pieces, and I love a challenge… so I’m going to attempt to make my own animal hair hat!

A few of Nagi Noda’s hair sculptures:

Pretty Pastels

LOVE this colour. And it was only 99p from Savers! ‘Technic Pretty Pastels’ do a small range of candy coloured nail polishes – this one’s my favourite.  Its quite thin, so 2-3 coats is required, and finish with a clear top coat to seal the colour.  Extend the top coat over the tip of your nail – it will help it last that little bit longer!
